Dr Laura Andrews MRNZCGP, MBBS (Hons with Distinction), MSc, MA (Cantab)
Laura is originally from the UK, and came to this end of the earth in 2011. Laura trained in the UK, spent her early years as a doctor in the industrial north and then emigrated to Dunedin, pursuing a love of the great outdoors and the search for clear skies and albatrosses. She moved to Christchurch and joined Sumner Health Centre in January 2017.
Laura loves the variety of general practice, and the opportunity to build good relationships with patients. She aims to provide a holistic approach to caring for all the members of our community, and is particularly interested in travel medicine and infectious diseases. She has travelled far and wide, and in a former life, studied anthropology and dabbled with a career upon the stage.
Outside of medicine, Laura can be found running up hills, falling off her surfboard, or persuading her two children (Will, 4 and Rose, 2) that they love camping and tramping. In an ideal world, she would be watching some good theatre or listening to live music, and planning her next mini adventure in the interval.
